First Newsletter Post! (and my next article)

Hey everyone,

This is my first-ever newsletter post! Here I plan to express more personal, informal thoughts and writings that I don’t feel like posting on my website. I hope someone will actually end up reading it, because I admit, I don’t read email newsletters too often myself.

Anyway, after finally attending in-person classes at DLSU two weeks ago, I decided to write about my experience of returning to school for the first time in so long. I planned to release a brief essay on this topic as my first newsletter post rather than on my website because I thought it was too personal.

But when I started writing last week, I quickly realized I had much to say about this whole thing. The essay was just supposed to cover my day-one “adventure” at school, but I also wanted to talk about my struggles during the online learning era and why getting to go on campus meant so much to me. I realized cramming all of this into an email was a bad idea, so I decided to make it my next blog post!

Since I do advocate for sharing your work (even if it’s terrible like mine), here are screenshots of my essay at the moment. It’s far from good, but drafts aren’t supposed to be your best work anyway.

I’m worried that this essay is too personal for a public post on the internet. It’s not like it provides much value to other people either. But I did say that I can write about whatever I want. I can try to think of it as building my character online. Also, I suspect most people who will read it are students as well, so I think they’ll be able to relate at least a little.

Let me know what you think about this essay/idea. Should I push through and post it on my website, or will no one even bat an eye and should I instead write something more valuable?

I do plan to post a few book notes soon, along with a new piano cover I’m preparing to record right now. I hope you’ll look forward to them all!

Quick note: there’s a good chance you found this in the promotions or “social” section of your email inbox. If so, I’m surprised you even found this. But more importantly, if you want tohave any future emails from me land in your primary inbox, simply drag this email to the “Primary” inbox section. I’d greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to do this, but only do it if you want to!

Hey everyone, Finally, after six months, this newsletter comes alive again. So much has happened in the time since my last newsletter piece, An Orchestra of Emotions: I almost feel like a completely different person. You never really can underestimate what can happen in the span of a few months. On the bright side, I've just released my new, deeply personal and incredibly vulnerable essay all unashamedly about me. I've been working on this essay on and off since August, with school getting in...

Hey everyone, A few days from now, on July 1, the Lasallian Youth Orchestra—of which I am a part—will be hosting its annual concert: Forte. This iteration is special because Forte is finally returning live after being forced online for three years due to the pandemic. This event has been in the works for half a year, and preparations have ramped up in the past month. It’s been a delight to make more and more friends within the organization as a result of the preparations. Although, to say...

Hey everyone, Whenever we’re getting things done, we tend to focus on what, when, and how. What am I going to study today? When do I plan to finish the project? How can I work more efficiently? But people often disregard where we get things done. For the past year, I’ve been frequenting the same nearby cafe nearly every week, on the same day, at the same time, to write, study, read, and think. It’s reached the point where all the waiters and managers know me by name and remember my favorite...
